Familiar faces from Black Flag meet new missions and new officers – and find just as easy an entry point as anyone stepping into the Caribbean for the first time.
Anyone who already sailed through Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag years ago isn't getting a simple refresh with Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced, but a complete experience: the new missions slot seamlessly into the familiar story, and players can take the new officers into action throughout. How deep you dive into Edward Kenway's tale stays a personal choice – the main story and the side missions can be pursued freely and independently of each other.
Newcomers who have never set foot in Black Flag's Caribbean find their way in just as easily: getting started works without detours, and without leaning on any knowledge of the original.
How life as a pirate in the Caribbean actually feels shows in the craftsmanship itself: gameplay and presentation come across as thoroughly polished, while innovation and scope sit on solid, if not spectacular, ground – together, that adds up to a game that convinces without needing to reinvent itself.
Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced launches on July 9, 2026 for PC, PS5 and Xbox, developed and published by Ubisoft itself. The remake skips a multiplayer mode entirely – Kenway's voyage through the Caribbean remains a solo one.

Dual Universe promises one seamless universe from planetary atmosphere to open space — technically striking, but held back by PvP that can turn casual players away.
Dual Universe sets out from a genuinely big idea: one continuous universe spanning atmospheric flight and open space, with no loading screens breaking the illusion. Novaquark built this space sim for PC as an MMO, and in our hands-on it was the technical and visual execution that stood out first — striking enough that the presentation earns a perfect score in our rating.
That strength carries through into the core loop of mining and construction. Mining is genuinely enjoyable, and building your own ship turns out to be a real challenge in the best sense: a vessel has to lift off within a planet's atmosphere and then actually hold up once it reaches open space. Meeting both requirements at once is what makes shipbuilding here feel substantial.
The multiplayer side pulls the experience back down. PvP can get rough enough to knock the fun out of the game for more casual players who run into determined opponents unprepared. On the upside, the option to self-host your own server stands out as a genuine plus, adding flexibility beyond the official infrastructure. That the original MMO world has since been shut down remains a loss, though.
We don't see Dual Universe as tournament-ready. A PvP system that can push inexperienced players out of the fun sits awkwardly with a format built around fair, repeatable competition. The creative depth of building and the sheer technical scale of the world remain impressive — but as a competitive discipline, Dual Universe doesn't hold up on this showing.

Precision craft remains the benchmark: clean duels, honest gunplay and a structure that carries from local ladders to the Major.
Counter-Strike needs no introduction — but every tournament series needs an answer to whether the title can carry real competition. We played the current version across two evenings: matchmaking, Premier mode and an internal ten-player scrim under tournament rules.
The craft of precision is still the benchmark. Duels are decided by positioning, timing and aim — not by equipment advantages. The economy rewards planning across rounds, and whoever loses usually knows why: the single most important property of a competitive title.
The structure holds up as well: a clear ruleset, established map pools and a scene that stays permeable from open ladders all the way to the Major. For organisers that means reliable formats, settled refereeing practice and an audience that knows the flow of a match.
The sore spot remains protection against unfair play. In open matchmaking the situation is better than its reputation, but not carefree. For tournament operations we draw a clear conclusion: server-side control plus firm sanction rules, as our rulebooks provide. Within that frame, nothing stands in the way of competition.

Hands-on · Sports sim
Great spectacle with real viewer value — but the meta narrows tactics. It works in tournaments with firm rules and pinned patch versions.
Football works as a spectator sport — digitally, too. EA Sports FC 26 plays that strength to the full: a match explains itself, the presentation is broadcast-ready, and a one-on-one on stage holds up even in front of people who never play the title themselves.
Competition shows the flip side: the current meta narrows the tactical range. Whoever wants to win plays a small corridor of formations and mechanics — which levels out differences in style between players and makes long series more predictable than the game deserves.
For tournament operations this is solvable, but it demands discipline from the organiser: patch versions pinned for the whole run, clear rules on permitted settings, and formats built around two-legged ties. Under those conditions the title delivers reliable, entertaining competition.
